The city of Béziers, in Occitania, in southern France, has been starting an intense program of modernization of its cultural offer for some years. In the process of obtaining the brand of “City of Art and History”, the municipality has decided to open its Museums to the XXI century, making its historical and artistic riches the model of its rebirth.
Thus, was born the project of an unprecedented reinterpretation of all the collections now distributed in various museums of the city, and their organic rearrangement in a single building, the Episcopal Palace of Béziers, with the aim of making it the reference point for residents and tourists, to celebrate and disseminate the history of the city, its traditions and its intense link with the surrounding area.
In 2021 the city of Béziers announced an international competition for the design and set-up of the Museum of Art and History of the Episcopal Palace, which was awarded to the design group led by the Guicciardini and Magni Architects studio, of which our studio is part for the lighting design.
