The “Galleria dell’Accademia” (Accademy’s Gallery) in Florence, known above all for the David, also houses Michelangelo’s Prisons and numerous other works of great value.
The Sala del Colosso houses the plaster model of Giambologna’s “Ratto delle Sabine” (Rape of the Sabine Women. For the lighting of the room, recessed fixtures were used in the false vault, accessible from above (from the practicable attic) for maintenance. A locking system guarantees the maintenance of the aiming during the maintenance phases. Different optics were used for washing the walls on which the paintings are placed and for the accent lighting of the sculptural group in the centre of the room.
